MCBL Teams Fold, Cancel Games with FRL
14 FRL games affected, will be replaced
Three FRL associate teams – Colby, Elkhorn and Topeka – informed the FRL on Wednesday, May 27 that their teams, as well as all other MCBL teams, will not play and have folded. With this, the FRL league schedule will be revised and other options for additional games will be pursued to replace the 14-game tour contracted with the former MCBL.
"This is a bit of a setback but really only affects three or four games with each team," FRL President Chuck Heeman said. "We feel bad for the players and coaches who tried to get the MCBL off the ground and hope they find homes this summer. The FRL will survive this season and we are already working, along with Commissioner Ken Wilson, to expand within a reasonable footprint for 2027 and beyond. We are making progress to building a professional-level league and will continue those efforts."
